  • Beautiful video. Have you tried using CHDK with your cam?

  • @Eyesareblind .. no i haven't yet .. but i am thinking about it.

    have you used it?

  • @APrintezis I've tried, but i'm a bit of an amateur, and the chdk menu is loaded with a bunch of photography terms I don't understand. But I would love to figure out how to use the "Timelapse Photo" option. I just wish it was simpler.

  • @Eyesareblind Yeah, same here, this canon has a built-in time lapse function.. so canon has already figured it out and it would be really easy for them to include that feature in all their models BUT THEY DON'T .. the good thing is that Samsung has started to include time lapse in most of their models including their pocket camcorder and their higher-end video cameras -- so i hope that Canon will wise up (in the mean time Canon even removed their photo-stitch feature from their lower end models)

  • @APrintezis My Canon (PowerShot SD1000 7.1MP) does take timelapse videos and they look very decent, but only the Canon Hack software allows you to take full resolution photos in time lapse, and it looks really good. Although I guess it's not truly timelapse since the chdk software doesn't compile the pics into a video for you. Still cool though.

I wish the Vado HD had a built in TimeLapse Feature. That would be awesome.

  • @Eyesareblind i wish the Vado had a timelapse feature too.

in their 3rd generation (latest model) they added a motion-detection feature, but still no time lapse (i believe only the Samsung U10 currently does, in that category of gadgets) - maybe a future firmware update can add thatfeature, i cannot imagine it would be too hard to reduce the frame rate from 30/sec to say 1/sec !! how difficult is that?! - i hope creative is listening : )

  • as for the line, it is a feature, not a problem (!) :)) but why is it always vertical ?!?! that is a good question .. why not horizontal -and- vertical ?!

  • yes, it is not a defect .. unfortunatelly this happens when you film a very bright "spot" on dark background due to a small number of CCD sensors being -way- over exposed. same thing that would happen to film in similar conditions, it would get "burned" .. it is funny how "similar" digital and conventional film can be, same thing with the grain in low light and high iso conditions .. different technology, same results !!!

  • at 1:30 why is there a blue line when u video the sun ?

    i have the same problems.

  • thanks, it's close (Phx, Az) - same type of sky and clouds though : ))
