How Zeolite-Drying works: during the drying cycle, hot, moisture-laden air is drawn from the wash chamber into a reservoir filled with three pounds of zeolite. It absorbs moisture and, as a side effect, heats up. The dry and heated air is than blow back into the tub where is continues to heat and dry the dishes. During the wash cycle, the zeolite reservoir is heated from below and releases the captured moisture as hot steam thereby adding extra heat to the wash cycle (while the flow-through heater already heats the water).
According to Bosch/Siemens Home Appliances, Zeolite Drying cuts the cycle time by 15 minutes and lowers energy consumption to just 0.87 kWh on the Eco cycle.
