  • Failing Sony got intolerable. Bought a Samsung 55" Costco+ Samsung+AMEX - now have over 5 years of warranties and a better picture than Sony for sure. Happy so far with Samsung

Prices are falling for all HDTVs. Now is the time to junk your Sony junk and buy up.

Sony is selling panel mfg. partnership to Samsung who will make panels for Sony. Sony has lost their shorts with LCD TVs deservedly so. NO SONY - ALL BALONEY!

  • I had the same problem with my KDL-52XBR4, only it got progressively worse...now dark screen with slow motion/ghosting on lower left all the time. It no longer corrects to normal after a period of time. Someone at Sony is in big time denial and/or coverup and should be fired for loss of customer confidence like this.

  • @gtaylor441 - contact the Bureau of Consumer Affairs, better business bureau and perhaps Attorney's General office in your state to make them aware of the ripoff. Counsumer paid a lot for these high end TVs based on Sony's prior reputation for top products. I even appealed to Sony Board who denied my appeal since it was 22 months on a 12 month warranty...even though it is obvious workmanship defect. B.S., people. Get pissed and let them know - glad they were hacked a while back! :-)

  • I have a similar problem with my sony bravia. The customer service said it wasnt the tv.

  • @CossieSnesBasement - It IS THE TV. Call back and get another C.S. rep. who will tell you to take it to a Sony repair dealer for estimate. Likely needs new LCD panels which cost more than the TV did new. Then Sony will tell you the warranty expires if it has and you have to eat the repair costs - OR, get this, Sony will offer to sell you a new Sony TV for a few hundred off! Right, throw good money after bad. When you can no longer toierate - buy a Samsung or Panasonic replacement. Luck2U.

  • @CossieSnesBasement One more thing - play a DVD and see it do the same thing as cable or antenna. This proves it IS the TV and not your cable or satellite signal or provider. Don't let them bully you down on this.

  • I just went through the same thing with Sony - I have a 52 inch bought 2.5 years ago - after three phone calls and paying an $89 repair visit by authorized tech, they offered one tv at a $200 discount, another for MORE than I can buy it through Amazon. I stayed on the phone for over 70 minutes - then they hung up on me. DO NOT BUY SONY LCD tvs - period!!!!!!

  • does anyone know if this bad panel is covered by squaretrade warranties under their coverage of :

    Convergence failure

Symptoms: Skewed images (blurry, hourglass, fuzzy edges).

  • Mine was doing the same thing, only taking up the entire screen. I tried doing the "tab bond" fix to no avail. I appealed to Sony as it was only 13.5 months old and was basically told I was out of luck.

I've since purchased a Samsung and am very happy. I'll be posting a video soon of me taking the Sony out into the desert and shooting the crap out of it. Sony has lost me as a customer.

  • i had the same problem contact me i will give you the link to fix .70$ t-con board

  • @lgb1945 I returned it and got my money back! im glad.
