I'm mainly a 2d artist, and whenever I look at incredible 3d work such as this, I just feel like you 3d artists almost have a better talent, because you can show so much more with 3d it seems

all is maya ?

@lilradfordUR so WRONG gnomon for games, movies(vfx) modeling, texturing ,lighting, & compositing,.
apart from animation and scripting(programming(gnomon is good at anything in vfx and 3d in general).

@h0ktar This is YouTube. Practically every single video is accompanied by some shitty music. You are right though, it is a terrible choice for your demo reel.

I can only assume that this demoreel is just for fun right? If not, and I really doubt that, how in gods name can you use such a terrible music for a demorreel?!?! Sorry, WTF!?!?!??! You just expect everybody in the world to love metal right? Did i it ever occur to you that most ppl consider this just as annoying noise and not as music? How can you make a demoreel and not think about this stuff!? How can you use a music of which you know that many ppl. hate it for a demoreel!?

I can imagine you wouldnt have any problems finding a job...
For the car did you do a Camera Projection??? Or is that actually UV textured?
kcin228 1 year ago
@kcin228 I used front projection to get the texture on the ground so that the reflections would match up right but the car is just material textured (no images, no projections) with raytraced reflections.

Is it worth the money to go to DAVE school? Do you think you could of learned animation without the schooling?
auratone25 1 year ago
@auratone25 I can honestly say I would not be where I am today if I hadn't gone to school. That being said, pick the school that focuses on what you want to do. Gnomon for video games, Animation Mentor for strictly animatioin, DAVE for generalist, etc.

how can you import a shadow from a 3d object to a 2d video? I use autodesk maya
Metallica1guitar 1 year ago
@Metallica1guitar usually you use a proxy object to catch the shadow then use buffers to save that shadow out as its own pass that can be added back in during compositing.
