I would argue that the revenue lost through piracy wasn't there in the first place. It's been well established that there are two kinds of pirates - the "try before you buy" mentality and the "I don't want to pay" mentality.
The try before you buy pirates will buy a product if they like it.
The I don't want to pay pirates will never pay for software.
