Anybody can sit back for 10 minutes unopposed and build stuff up. That's very easy, and so good players find it boring. It also means getting good units out doesn't mean anything - anybody can get a full army of whatever they want.
A full game of rushing and counter-rushing, balancing between defence, expansion and building an army, is FAR more fun to a good player than "hurr durr let's make whatever I want and send it to the middle big explosions herp derp".
