Edward Abbey hated vehicles and thought they were basically giant wheelchairs for lazy people. So it's ironic that people want his truck.

Ed would laugh, yes, but he would also be touched that old friends cherished his memory enough to lay out that much coin for a small piece of it. He would then probably offer to go into the old truck business where he would buy an old truck, drive it for a week, and sell it at a huge profit, to the derision and cheering of the crowd.
