When it comes to hot rod runs in Australia they don't come much bigger, or better, than Bright at the foot of the Victorian Alps. The whole town fills to the brim with rods and muscle cars of all shapes and sizes. If there's a combination you can think of, there was one at Bright. If you haven't been then you've got to go, it's as simple as that. The atmosphere is very laid back, with a little go-to-whoa action thrown in for those that like to get on it.

  • almost all of what is on this video is not longer what the bright rod run is about. The Bright Rod Run is now held out at the football oval; everything happens there, trand stand, rock & roll bands, show & shine, presentations. Anyone who watches this video please do not get this idea of this is what the event it, we moved it out of town a couple of years ago. All the people cruising the streets are non-entrants and have nothing to do with the actual event.

You're joking right? This is exactly what Bright is all about, I went down to the showground on saturday and there was about 25 cars and a couple dozen people standing around looking bored. The cruising around town is what it's all about.

  • @blownhemi im a member's daughter of the Northern Suburbs Street Rod club (the club that run the event) the crusing the streets is what it used to be about... saturday there was a poker run so there wouldnt of been many cars on the oval, whereas sunday when we have show & shine it was packed. we had over 700 entries, all of whom which were at the oval. i was 1 when this event started so i know what bright is all about!

That's all well and good, but people don't go to Bright to sit in an oval, they can do that at any one of dozens of hot rods events. What I saw was endless cruising and thousands of people having a good time. You seem to think that's wrong, but I reckon most people go to Bright for that exact reason.

  • @ShanaMS89 Never before had i read so much dribble, I can see what you are trying to say but it is'nt the truth !! I have just got back from the 2011 event and had a ball, cruising the streets is what the event is about, and with exception of the few every body does it at one stage over the weekend !! the show had 100 cars less on the oval this year then last year, which is a shame but thats the world we live in these days I guess, moneys tight ! it didn't seem tight for the people cruising !! !

  • @funclo

Pity I couldn't make it this year, too much to catch up on at home (like the lawn) but hoping to get there next year again.

  • @funclo dont get me wrong, you can cruise all you want... but what you see in town has nothing to do with the offical bright rod run. thats what you all need to understand. The Bright Rod Run invloves dinner with a rock & roll dance friday and saturday night, a poker run on saturday then the go-to-whoa, a breakfast on the sunday and then show & shine with presentations. and we had 700 or so entrants this year again, so thank-you to those who enter & support the NSSR.

  • I was there I'm a local!!

  • I see the problem.... the steering wheels are on the wrong sides....

  • i used to be a local up until about 4-5 years ago.. going to bright every november is a tradition as i just loved Hot Rods!

The old days when i lived there were the best.. the cars cruised around the sreets all day and at night they kept cruising while we all drank round the clock tower watching them cruise with the band on the alpine veranda.. they were the days.. Now with the cops blocking the streets and moving things to the oval it sucks a little but its still an awesome weekend for all!!

  • @ShanaMS89

The last time i went to the bright rod run was the last year they had it in town. I've had mates who went to the run at the oval and said it was becoming like summer nats and told me the good old days of the run was gone. SAD..............

  • Thanks for the video brother, very much appreciated for us poor blighters that can't make the trip!
