@ScopedandDropped06 the book Band of Brothers, i do not have the book with me (i am at college) but if you'd like i'm sure i can visit a library and find the page numbers. Also, i think this was mentioned in an interview with Lt. Spiers after the war. If you'd like to do the research yourself start with wikipedia and it can point you to some good primary sources.

No he didn't. For whatever reason Spears thought it would be good to get a reputation as a bad-ass by "killing" Germans. He thought if painted a picture of himself as half-crazy men would follow him un-questionably into combat. So he faked it, this is based on Spears and Winters' accounts, however malarcke thought spears killed the Germans, causing the controversy.
