Some of the comments here show how gravely our "music education" system has failed to give people a real sense of where music comes from and how different styles relate to each other. So little mutual respect and true passion for sound.

Though almost 50 years have passed since the tragic accident,
Gentleman Jim hasn´t got any successor, and will never have.
The voice of Jim Reeves and his art of interpretation will always be
remembered as unsurpassed.

when it started without backing music, i almost thought he was going to go full-on jazz. would have been nice.

@sannitig, et al... if you want more, search out Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, here on YouTube and Google? Also... old black and white movies... 30's, 40's, 50's had some great music and performances in their movies.
Kind of a different Jim Reeves than what I'm used to, grew up on.

I prefer this version to Sinatra's and Willie's ; Jim Reeves has a album on CD called A Touch of Velvet crica early 60's? (Mostly Jazz and American Stadards like this-smooth munch). Surprised that neither Buble,Bieber, or Beyonce haven't tried to rework it

@ahlyne To hell with the man who wrote the song (both music and lyrics) that "Jim Reeves captures the essence of"? I don't get it.

This more of a pop song...if you notice..willie nelson sings some pop songs too. he sings Blue skies.....this is more like bluezy though..

I absolutely love this song! It's from the 1920s isn't it? It's really ironic because the stock market crashed soon after.
Yea that is funny. Country has really changed, It is more like southern Rock. Which I like but don't call it country

I first heard this song on Star Trek Nemesis. Data sings it in the begining. Jim Reeves is much much better. Does anyone know of more music like this song? I grabbed some Jim Reeves stuff but it's not like this song. This is Jazzy, chilled out, groovey. I want more.
