Induced Draft Fan drive used for Inlet Vane control (IVC) or ID Fan damper. 100% duty cycle, high speed (3 sec/90deg), 0.1% deadband, 70 millisecond deadtime regardless of the size of the setpoint change. Widely used in coal fired power plants. Speed and accuracy are critical for stable furnace pressure control and catching "excursions" such as a turbine load rejection. Power plants cannot get their boilers to trip during runback tests after installing this type of actuator. There is no oil tank or associated filtration system. It is closed-loop, low volume. Oil is transferred from one side of a double-acting cylinder to the other with bi-direction brushless motors and pumps (positive displacement gear pumps).
