Two years ago, Students Against Israeli Apartheid (SAIA) Carleton launched a campaign to get the Carleton University Pension Fund divested from companies complicit in violations of human rights and international law in Palestine or anywhere else in the world, and to adopt a comprehensive and binding socially responsible investment policy. This campaign, which started as simply a SAIA initiative, has grown into a campus-wide movement, bringing together students, faculty, staff, retirees, and alumni.

  • Hey 1056PHL, thanks for asking! We are a student funded organization that receives monetary contributions from CUSA and OPIRG-Carleton. I'm glad you love the professional quality of our video. One of our members has taken up videography as a hobby and made this for us for free! We are quite lucky to have such skilled members on our team.

  • Well done! Amazing video, your campaign is an inspiration and we will win!

  • @DWYosefHS How is a divestment campaign from companies profiting off of illegal military occupation advocating for the destruction of Israel? You use fear mongering to distract attention from legitimate demands made by an enormous proportion of the Carleton student body

  • pfft let's hear you make your argument that even SLIGHTLY compares Israel to apartheid South Africa??

  • @tylerlevitan Many flaws in your argument. A few examples:

    1. The premise "Israel violated international law" is not factual. It's hate-based propaganda.

    2. You use the Tibetan struggle to prop up your argument. The facts show that Israelis, not Palestinazis, are in the same position as the Tibetans. (You'll be angered by that term because it's historically true.)

    3. The entire divestment movement is promoted by individuals and orgs that make no secret of their hatred for the JEWISH State.

  • Actually, in theory, just like human rights abuses are against international law, advocating for a state's destruction also is. Interesting, that.

  • On the other hand, if you want to pine for a Palestinian homeland, there is precedence and massive support for that. If the amount of energy and manpower behind this silly BDS movement galvanized behind supporting efforts to establish the state-building apparatuses, diplomatic channels, and networks with the international NGO community, there might actually BE a Palestine by now. But instead, all of this energy goes into delegitimizing and undermining a state which already exists...

  • After many years in Israel, living & working in Yehuda, Shomron, & the Merkaz, I've seen that the only apartheid in Israel is that practiced against Torah-observant Jews & others who adhere to authentic & legitimate International law (not grotesque distortions by doublethink dissemblers like the wiseacres who made this video).

What about the Death penalty for "Palestinians" who sell land to Jews or convert to Judaism?

The Muslims will show you their true face one day, but it will be too late.

  • ...does not even recognize the legality or legitimacy of the ICC. Just because you say something is against "international law," doesn't legally make it so. And just because you say Israel is "apartheid" doesn't make it so either. The reason that this movement has virtually no following among the vast NGO networks which influence policy-makers in international organizations and countries with meaningful foreign policies is because it is a vacuous claim that Israel practices such a policy.

  • I love how "international law" is just bandied about as if it's long-determined that this or that is somehow in violation. International law would suggest that America or Canada are illegitimately founded, for example, but would also recognize their sovereign status as states. How does one reconcile this difference? You can use "international law" for your propaganda purposes all you like, but to do so is meaningless and vacuous, especially when you consider that the USA, for example...

  • Spend a week in Gaza. Spend a week in Israel. Only then will I accept anything you say as true. It's easy to read propaganda (i loved that anti-zionist caricature you so proudly displayed at the end). What takes integrity is looking past propaganda. Instead of painting the world in blacks and whites, look at all the shades of grey and say "Israel makes mistakes, but it is not oppressive" If you honestly research the history and spend time in these countries you will be able to say that.

  • @tylerlevitan What you have done is ask us to ignore their wilful-ignorance a long and complex conflict. I see you don't see why the fuss, so let me explain. It'd be like to excuse them for trying to drown a horse (which we can agree does not swim) and then justify it by comparing it to a goldfish (a pretty good swimmer), and holding the similarity they are both animals as a justification for drowning an equestrian. Equal rights = no apartheid, just GO to Israel. There is a dissimilarity.
