  • so dogs can't get e coli from raw hamburger? I always cooked the hamburger, is this unnecessary?

  • If the meat is fresh and at a refrigerated temperature there is little chance of e-coli and salmonella contamination. Dogs have many times the acid strength of people so they can digest raw meat safely. Holistic veterinarians in most cases recommend a raw meat diet as the benefits far exceed any risk. Meat is often cooked because the person preparing the dog's meal cannot face having to deal with raw meat. Dogs will eat it either way.
