@neneorganico Sad, but all true for Callas. If only she managed that voice better .... Sutherland still would've likely kicked her ass. ;)

@donniecatalano I agree with you!

@angryjalapeno No!!! Many 'pretend coloratura's'--ala Netrebko and co.
-
@windstorm1000 does the MET currently have any sopranos that have these high notes?
-
Sutherland was great. Callas was great. Both were unique, very gifted sopranos.
-
@neneorganico And your point is? Sutherland is great because Callas was not great? How about something like "both of them were fantastic singers in different ways and different repertoires"?
-
The voice is beautiful, but the interpretation is boring.

@simisimi9 Maria Callas italian diction was dark, she was an american born in New York.Maria Callas efforts to sing Puccini are anemic singing with a too flawed and wretched voice .Joan Sutherland had a 40 years career with Eflat for over 30 years and poor Maria Eflat lasted only around 7 years and alwayas with problems.Joan Sutherland voice was huge. Callas voice was only big in the early '50s but poor Maria since middle '50sher voice became thinner and smaller each year, by 1960 she was mute
Suddenly, everybody is a great expert, the finest listener on the planet!!!! :-S I hate youtube for this
