Ma che cosa! Steel Saviour is a horizontal scrolling stg courtesy of the italian team Atlanteq. Yes, Einhänder inspired.
First: no, you are not drunk, the camera shakes and moves quite a lot for your viewing delight.
Second: I don't know what Youtube does to the videos but it certainly cut some fps from the original avi, which runs at a fluid 60fps.
The visuals are simply breathtaking. It really shows how 2D can still own 3D graphics any day. Everything has a surreal biomechanical aspect that really makes it unique. This is 'supposedly' an 'old' game. Yeah, sure. Well, you know that for some people a 4 year old game is ancient history already.
Anyway, this thing has so much stuff going on in the background, so many effects that it actually plays against it and makes it EXTREMELY hard. I'm not joking, this thing is brutal, not for sissies. Macho Macho right there.
It does all the 'eurosmhup' tricks that make shooter fans cry and beg for Cave simply because this is the diametrical opposite of the bullet hell formula:
- Fast, few, remorseless bullets
-Hyper Gigantic hitbox (in short: your ship is your hitbox)
- Blind/point blank shots (sometimes the weather and other effects cover bullets and you get hit by them)
- Attacks without warning (bosses will give you a 0.5 second warning for you to react) and few visible damage indicators
- 10+ min levels
- Overly weak weapons (you'll cry for this because only a few enemies die in one hit, the rest are HARD, STRONG, they take up way too many shots and you will get angry... Trust me, you will)
The game has a combo system and ignoring it will probably destroy you even more because you have to chain and kill kill kill in order to power up your weapons, else... good luck getting to the boss since the trip is long and hard! Did I mention the game is HARD? Patience is the key because after the two first levels it gets really nice, while maintaining the in-your-face ultra hard difficulty with super fast enemies and bullets.
This is the lowest difficulty setting so just picture the other two. And I died twice, yeah, not really a good run but recording a level proved tricky since they are just way too long. And this is 6+ mins without a single boss so people without patience (or love for the surreal), avoid this.

You can purchase it for 10 euros here: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00027NWCO/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&am...
Sadly, I have no freaking idea if it can be purchased anywhere else. Maybe the authors could make a re-release or a second part with the first game bundled or something...
This game does look awesome. Plus it's Einhander inspired. I need to look into this game some time.

Yeah, wait till I upload the bosses of this level (next vid is almost 6 mins long too) Despite my comments (which might put off people), the difficulty and all the 'euroshmuppy' feeling, this thing exudes love in all its design.
It's great once you can get over those points. Plus you can start from the latest level you unlocked so that actually balances things a bit as it lets you practice each level separately.
