And even then, the umpires check the coarse for logs before the race, and the race started clearly, only until after the 1500 did logs begin to drift in. You can't just stop a race when it's that far in, especially if the team's that are battling out for 1st and 2nd are 10 seconds ahead. If Mt. Baker really was as good as they believe themselves to be, then they wouldn't have lost to Rose City the previous day to be relegated to the outside lane. whose fault is it then? Better luck next year.

While I shall not deny the fact that there are logs on the course, Mt. Baker lost, pure and simple. The disruption in motion caused by 7-seat "hitting" the log by no means slows down a whole 8+ by 1 full second and a half. Furthermore, ask yourself how much time was lost due to the overall poor form of the boat. Seriously, count how many times the starboard side drags their oars on the water throughout the entire race.
