Representative Mark B. Cohen: PA HB 1393 medical marijuana hearings

12/2/2009 The PA House Health and Human Services Committee held the historic first hearings on medical marijuana in the Commonwealth. Public testimony on HB 1393 The Barry Busch Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act was heard for over three hours. Rep. Mark B. Cohen is the main sponsor of HB 1393 and has taken on the issue with drive and compassion. Cohen has kept up a constant dialogue with advocates and patients to craft a working medical cannabis program fro PA.

@growman2010 yeah i've been on all of them, trazadone they made my dosage too high and i ended up in the hospital for over dosing, they said i took too much on purpose, i pulled out the bottle said you look at the date and you count them and TELL ME i did this on purpose. i just hate pills. i deal with antibiotics because they clear up infections i think they are absolutely nec to have but all this other crap for mood swings anxiety and whatnot, no i won't be putting it in my body anymore.

@zzzzdreamzzz yeah they had me on paxcil saraquill trazodone all kinda diffrent shit that made me like a vegtable i couldint even move off my couch for 3 years other then to shower and get sumthin to eat if the meds didint kill my appetite but when i smoke weed i calm down i get hungry and can sleep without the aid of sleeping pills they probley wont pass this bill because the people who make the meds will loose tons of money on the bullshit they put in our bodies its called population control

@growman2010 I too was diagnosed as bipolar over 15 years ago, when im stressed to the point of a breakdown, which happens from time to time, or my brain is telling me im invincible and can do anything i want, i smoke, and i can calm the hell down, i have been on over 20 diff meds, all by my doctors orders, and none, and i mean NONE worked. the problem people don't understand is some days you are fine, but taking a pill that doesn't kick in for an hour or two, doesn't help much in the moment.

also (continued from below) after I got off the junk they prescribed prozak for depression and anger from screwing up my life, but I realized that the one daily dose of MJ cured all my blues away also. The third benefit for me is MJ may have caused me to be a better person by thinking before acting or speaking and considering others feelings, just a better Christian overall. I would testify before GOD on behalf of this helpful herb.

MJ saved my life. Hows this for a "Reverse Gateway" drug story. When I was growing up I drnk beer and did a few lines on weekends as opposed to the stoner bunch. About 8 years ago my wife left with everything and got laid off and ended up mixed up with a chick that got me smoking crack, 5 years and ended up assed out homeless, rehabs and mtgs werent working. An old AA member suggested MJ to me, I always thought of pot as a drug but GOD WILLING 1 bowl after dinner -- 2.5 years CLEAN NOW no slips
