WORLD PREMIERE! Choose: "watch in high quality"- Leave a comment. I, Marc Friedlander, directed this for Frankie M. George in 1982. He told me thiese songs were about how in today's society (circa 1982), music fans were beginning to act like sheep, just bunching in with 1 style or another. People were getting less passionate about the music and more into the 'scene' (clothes, discos, cheesy MTV rip-off shows on regular 'non-cable' TV stations, etc.). MV3 was a dumb show on LA afternoon TV on against Oprah. It was the only place those of us without cable could see these new-fangled music videos that were suddenly the most popular musical innovation of the time. It was hosted by a wannabe actor and a bubble-headed bimbo who idolized Duran Duran! The main host was popular LA radio DJ, KROQ's Richard Blade. It featured coked-out local kids dancing and watching MTVsh videos on a big screen. It was a direct ripoff of American Bandstand mixed with MTV and I felt they needed to be lampooned. The lyrics of the song tell of the singer's disappointment in the music fans and trends of 1982. The reason the dancers look like such losers in this video is that I told the 'extras' to act uber-hip and disaffected (I'm not sure they understood what that meant!).

I lost touch with Frankie...I don't have any updates since the early 80's. If you know him, please make him aware of this new youtube upload. For another Frankie M video, check out:
