Used in classical music quite a lot these days! Great sound. Check out any Thomas Ades or Esa-Pekka Salonen works to hear them in an orchestra :-)

Amazon.com sells them new from Remo for about $90 without a stand. Remo still manufactures 6", 8", 10" 12" and 14" Roto-Toms; the 16" and 18" are discontinued.

@WelcomeWakinyan You can still get Remo Roto-Toms in 12" and even 14" new from Remo. Steve Weiss music sells all of the regular sizes, plus his company sells 16" and 18" versions, which Remo discontinued a long time ago.
@petro062 do roto toms take only a certain type of drum head or will any standard one work?

@skywarior35 Any type will work but they will sound different though.

@WelcomeWakinyan Well I got it 20 years ago. It was laying on the floor at a used music store with a ripped up pinstripe head on it.all alone. So I offered the guy 20 bucks for it and he went for it. I had to clean the chrome with car wax to shine it up. I had to make a stand to hold it. And I never saw another one for sale since.BUT I think I would go to my local music store and ask them to look in their catalog. That is where I get my odd things that aren't on display. Try that.
