For two years, 1948 and 1949, the American Railroad Industry sponsored a great exhibition on Chicago's lakefront celebrating 100 years of railroad progress. My Dad attended both years and of course he took his movie camera and his boys with him.

I remember my folks taking me both years, It was fantastic. There has never been anything like it since. The 1949 version was not as large as the previous year.

@844jim Riders in the Sky featuring Marty Stuart also has done a great version of it. Of course you can't beat the old Sons of the Pioneers, but the Riders are pretty darn good!

Thank you! It was one of my fondest memories growing up in Chicago. I was 6 or 7. I remember the indians whooping it up riding in on their ponies and steam engine trains chugging on stage spewing red, white and blue smoke. Until today, I did not know what this memory was about until I saw your video. Big hug! My memory now has place attached to this even. It was the Chicago Railroad Fair of 1948-9!
