America wants to extradite Richard O'Dwyer for operating a website which linked to sites where people could download tv programs and films etc. This is actually not a crime in the UK and as far as I know, not a crime in the US either. The site contained no copyright material at all and infringed no UK laws, yet the US want to use the one-sided extradition treaty wherein the American authorities require no evidence at all to extradite a UK citizen and our UK courts weald only a rubber stamp.
Like the 10 year case of Gary McKinnon the UFO truthseeker, the US is again trying to extend its Jurisdiction and control over the internet. This must not be allowed to happen. Cyberspace is the ultimate democracy and must not fall victim to imperial control

  • How can america be allowed to do this?

  • Poor dude, poor dude... I can't imagie nor what Richard or his mother are fealing like. THIS bullshit MUST stop! Facebook awaits me and you. We can make a differance!

  • I am baffled by this. I mean, if they start prosecuting people for posting links the world wide web is doomed as it exists now

  • >US suffers from bad economy and other larger political issues

    >losing leadership power and influence over people

    >copyright infringement issues on the rise

    >regain power by exaggerating copyright infringement regulations

    >???

    >Profit!

  • Americans ALWAYS think they'r the police of the world...

  • Richard O'Dwyer was paid up to $200,000 a year from advertisement, so if what he's doing is illegal, surely the investors are essentially funding him? Why aren't they in trouble, they went straight to the defenseless kid. Piracy will never die, same way drugs and prostitution will always be around no matter how hard the governments want otherwise.

  • Wow I really dislike the presenters on this show.

4:13 "this will become illegal".. what the hell?

4:20 "Richard accepts that he has, he has, you know, been caught committing crime?"

No, Richard hasn't committed a crime, and it really shouldn't be against the law anywhere.

It's exactly the same as saying that the yellow pages are liable for their customers committing crimes on people who read the yellow pages. How is that right?

  • Hmm, I wonder if all american women who have car license or gay people are being shipped so Saudi Arabia to face their sentence there?

Where is this world heading for fucks sake?!

  • Copyright should be destroyed, and the US Gov, take that from an American.

  • @SirPimpinPeacock Stop blaming the people for this.
