WEDDEL - SCHIP is NOT gov-run hc, it's gov-subsidized hc. 70% of coverage is through PRIVATE INS COMPANIES (think BlueCross). The gov doesn't run it, it just helps pay for it b/c it is so damn expensive. The estimates for crowd out include people who have access to coverage, but choose not to get it. Probably because they can't afford it! And states do pay for these programs--it's a state-federal partnership.

Indeed, The program was, and still is in effect. The reason for the veto was all extraneous crap the the dems in congress tried to sneak past, not the least of which was the expansion of the program's guidelines to increase the age of those covered to people in their 20's. It's supposed to help insure kids, not adults...

My friend's daughter is sick with cancer and gets treatment, plus all her meds, for FREE because we live in Canada. If we didn't have that, she would not be here today. Programs like this are really needed!

Um, when we leave Iraq, Obama will let the loving terrorists in to the US in droves and you won't have to worry about the s-chip. I think that will be the last thing on your mind.

How about this.

Remove the insurance companies all together! Prices will have to come down to a reasonable amount so that a person with an average salary can pay for services. S-CHIP will help children, but it helps the insurance companies more.

S-CHIP wasn't a bad idea at all.

The earmarks added to the bill, and the way they wanted to get the funding was, though.

Adding a additional tax to tobacco products hurts the majority of tobacco users, which are poor. This will not make them quit either.

But yes S-CHIP, without any strings attached would have been great.

This is not a lie, that little girl is my cousin. Before she was in commercials, when she was an infant, my mom got a call from Bo and Dara, they said she was in a serious condition and she had problems with her heart. My whole family was worried about her and now I'm glad shes alive. This is a real girl and a real family that went through this none of it is staged

My aunt and uncle want to make a difference and anyone who says they're lying is ignorant and probably selish.

starcherish8 is my sister. This is our cousin Bethany. Im glad shes still alive. She was born with 3 holes in her heart. The lady picking her up was Dara Wilkerson, my aunt, obviously.

OMG! That is actually my cousin, I'm not even joking. lol she's sooooo cute. I love her. BOOOO Bush. Thank you S-Chip!!!! Hi Bo and Dara remember the sand castle we made and the skating rink.(Bo and Dara are Bethany's parents, my uncle and aunt). LOVE YOU!
