I did not make this video for deep explanatory or instructional purposes, but as a general overview of these religious orders. I have included only the most well known and popular orders, with the Latin name and abbreviation as well as the common English name. The pictures are a collection of Monastic and Mendicant monks and friars, and do not chronologically coincide with the slides. The Chant is 'Laetetur Cor':

Laetetur cor quaerentium Dominum.
Quaerite Dominum et confirmamini;
quaerite faciem eius semper.
Confitemini Domino et invocate nomen eius,
annuntiate inter gentes opera eius.
Laetetur cor quaerentium Dominum.
Quaerite Dominum et confirmamini;
quaerite faciem eius semper.

Let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.
Seek ye the Lord, and be strengthened:
seek his face evermore.
Give glory to the Lord, and call upon his name:
declare his deeds among the Gentiles.
Let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.
Seek ye the Lord, and be strengthened:
seek his face evermore.

  • Beautiful video, but if I can correct you:

    Capuchin Friars - OFMCap, (not OFM)

    Carthusians - OCart (not Cart)

    God bless you and your work, brother :-)

  • @AureusVenerabilis Thank you Aureus.

    Unfortunately I don't think I can change that, but it is helpful for other viewers. I admit I am prone to a wide array of mistakes and faults. God bless you.

  • BECOMING AN AUGUSTINIAN

    An Augustinian Me!

    So why not?

    What is an Augustinian?

    The order is a brotherhood within the Catholic Church, so you need to be a Catholic to join.

    Is God Calling You to the Augustinians? Would you like to follow in the footsteps of St. Augustine of Hippo? If so, perhaps God is calling you to the Augustinians. For information about Augustinian vocations, or to contact the Augustinian Directors of Vocation for help in your vocational discernment.

  • Father, I abandon myself into your hands; do with me what you will. Whatever you may do, I thank you: I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures. I wish no more than this, O Lord. Into your hands I commend my soul; I offer it to you with all the love of my heart, for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into your hands, without reserve, and with boundless confidence, for you are my Father.
