@kesselrunfun Ocelot lost his arm to the cyborg ninja aka Gray Fox. When Liquid died at the end of the first one Ocelot had Liquid's arm grafted to his body in place of Ocelot's missing arm. As far as the persona goes though, Ocelot when through psychotherapy to make himself believe he was Liquid. At least that's how I understood MGS 4's story.
