Snow at Helsinki Airport - operations run smoothly without cancellations or delays

Snow, ice or slippery conditions are not a problem at Helsinki Airport or any other airport in Finland. The Finnish airport operator Finavia has invested plenty of resources in winter maintenance.
The airports stay open in spite of snowfalls and sub-zero temperatures. The maintenance units, on call 24 for hours a day, and special machinery developed for reducing the slippery conditions of runways are the key.
Safety is the first priority; that is why winter maintenance and anti-ice and de-icing treatments of runways are so important.

Great job! In London they have up to 5cm snow and they were paralyzed for several days... In Brussels too.

In Paris they were out of... de-icing fluid.... tragicomedy. Heathrow has 10 old snow plow [Okecie Warsaw ariport ten... all of them last generation]. Great job Helsinki!
