On occasion someone will tell me that, when it comes to homosexuality, he or she has an open mind. This statement seems preposterous to me and I long for the day when it looks like an anachronism. I have an open mind about long fingers, red hair, thin lips, and left-handedness. It makes about that much sense.
That depends on what you mean by religious. It's not about allegiance to some allegedly sacred texts, but more about comtemplation over humanity's relationship with the universe. For example, Jean Paul Sartre was an atheist and one of the most profound thinkers of the last century. Who can deny that his worldview was deeply religious in its own way?
It seems like another lesbian/gay documentary. I'm a lesbian and I'm very proud to be a lesbian but I get tired of gays and lesbians or heteros putting us under a camera lense and treating our community as if we need to be further analyzed to find out what "truly" makes us homosexual. I'm disappointed. I want to see something of depth about the gay community and eventually I will probably make my own video.
Oh, maybe getting screamed at about her orientation as she walks down the street.Or getting beaten up because of her orientation. She is probably struggling because she doesn't want to be hated for being her true self. Few of us do. By the way, I don't think Jesus would have been a person who persecuted GLBT folks. But then he wasn't a Christian.
well i know someone that works closely with christian gays who struggle daily. if i compare my unmarried christian self to a lesbian, what does she go through that i dont? apart from the moral struggle i mean...
As to being religious, you got me. Why people want to identify with religion which persecutes their existence is beyond me. However,I think many GLBT people see themselves as SPIRITUAL--thinking there is a force greater than themselves. That I can understand. The bible is a book.
A trans-lesbian is a person who is transgender(born with the plumbing of one sex,but identifies as the other sex) and THEN, sees herself/himself as gay or lesbian. It is very complicated, and only shows how complex we are as human beings.
