This is a short video displaying my small collection of hardy North American Carnivorous Plants. Two of them (the Yellow Pitcher Plant and Water Sundew) were ordered from Sarracenia Northwest. The rest were either purchased from or are decendants from plants purchased (rescued) from Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse.

  • Very nice collection! Keep it up.

Try to rope together your sarracenia pitchers if they fall down, it will help them grow straight :)

Try producing venus fly trap seeds, if 2 of your plants might have a flower at the same time,

And another thing... A flower on a sarracenia? Nice! Pretty rare, you know! ;D

A beautiful, healthy, happy collection. ;)

  • @STFUbelgium Thanks for the compliments and advice. I really would like to have my Sarracenia pitchers stand up like they should. I'll try what you said when they resume growing this spring.

  • @Shooter12point7 i know, winter really sucks for carnivorous collectors! Good luck! ;)

  • uhh when did you buy the Venus Flytraps at Lowe's? in the Spring, or Fall? cause im just wondering if they run out of them in the fall.

    thanks

  • - If you want to start growing CP's such as Sarracenia, try a Yellow Trumpet, (Sarracenia Flava). This species grows really fast. Visit Sarracenia Northwest, which is the best online grower out there. i get all of my plants from their site.

  • Sarracenia Northwest says you can use tap water if you're in a pinch, but I've never used tap water on any of my CPs. I think I'll keep it that way too. Thanks! :)

  • Tap water will kill them, use rain or distilled water ONLY.

  • Oh, now I get it. Yeah, Sarracenia Northwest says that is why you should use mineral-free water, and change the soil once a year. That's what I've been doing, and my plants are fine. :)

  • oh Im sorry that message of mine made pretty much no sense. What I ment to say is the standing water (the water tray) will make a build up of minerals and stuff. Pirrahanahboy01 is an expert so ever since I heard that I took all of my plants out of their water trays wich is kinda a pain because water will still drips when I bring them in atnight.
