This is the extraordinary story of a family reunion. In this case, the family
is made up of one man and a few bears, living in isolation in the wilderness
of Russia.

Edge of Eden: Living with the Grizzlies (formerly The Bear Man of Kamchatka)
tracks Canadian bear expert Charlie Russell as he rescues two orphaned cubs
destined for death in a squalid Russian zoo. He secrets them away to his home
in the remote wilds of the South Kamchatka peninsula, in the former Soviet
Union.

Two little cubs that know nothing about how to be a bear. Charlie becomes
their surrogate mother and shows them the lay of the land in their new home
territory, what plants to eat, how to catch fish and how to escape from
predatory male bears.

Charlie loves the bears and then lets them go. But bears are like humans û
they need their mothers. In this breathtaking hour, trouble arises when two
strange bears come back to Charlie's cabin. They're two of the cubs Charlie
thought had died û but they've returned to the only home and the only mother
they know.

In a world where 'might makes right' and aggression becomes the only way to
deal with conflicts, Charlie Russell is proving that it is possible to live
peacefully with one of the world's most feared and misunderstood creatures.

  • @zaniellify I agree, that hunters are dangerous and what they do is often unnecessary - killing anyone is never the right answer. - And still bears are dangerous - if you are in their way, they will kill you 'by accident' because they are much stronger than you are and your skin and bones are not made for being shuffled out of the way of a bear. Dangerus doesn't mean 'mean' or 'evil' - just 'not good for your health'.

  • @Gilren1 Humans are dangerous, not bears. KILL THE HUNTERS

  • @alaskacharlie - Russel said that bears are dangerous - I think you didn't get the message... .

  • I have lived with the bears of Katmai for 26 years and people playing with them and treating wild animals like pets is A very bad example. This will only leed to more Treadwells and more bears being put down.Give wild animals the room they deserve and dont habituate them.

  • It's time that we stop teaching our children that bears are fierce creatures that need to be feared. This fear leads to the senseless slaughter of bears every years. Hundreds of black bears were just slaughtered as trophies in NJ. What kind of nation does this? I hope that everyone will take time to learn about bears and share that information with future generations.
