Red Oak Police Stand Off sm

At 5:08 pm, August 27, 2009, ROPD were called to 901 Reed Street. Red Oak Police Chief Drue Powers reports that a male subject was breaking windows out of the house and throwing furniture out of the windows, and acting in an irrational manner. Upon the arrival of ROPD, the individual spoke in a profane manner to the officers and returned back inside his home. At that point the responding officers made the decision not to engage the individual and called for backup while they assessed the situation. At 7:06 pm, the decision was made to enter the home. In speaking with people acquainted with the individual it was discovered he does not answer his phone or his door so there was no way to communicate with him. When ROPD entered the house, they met with no resistance from the individual. The subject was taken into custody at that time and transported to MCMH for further assessment. ROPD were assisted by Red Oak Fire Department, Cass County Sheriff's Department, Iowa State Patrol, and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department................ .Shadow Works

Aint too far from my town

I remember this I actually drove over to the area and saw all the Police Cruisers out on the block we were only like a block and a half away (my friend and I) we were eventually told to turn around and leave so we did but we drove around the area and saw that the perimeter was bigger than we originally thought! the entire block and a half was closed off. It was pretty sweet just a normal day in Red Oak.
