For the AR-308 project on http://ultimatereloader.com we're walking through the end-to-end process of accurizing, reloading and shooting the AR-10 style rifle (DPMS LR-308B in this case a unique rifle system). In this video I cover validating seating depth with the Redding Instant Indicator, and seating bullets with the Redding Competition Seating Die and crimp die. Catch all of the details at http://ultimatereloader.com/ar-15 !

  • did you account for the diffrance in mfg ogive lengths ? o/l you might need a bullet comparater to compare ogives. a reading from a caliber will give a general length .

  • @Mtnshooter1 Good eye- that would normally be an issue. In this case I checked against magazine length. For semi-autos, measuring allowable COL with a gage and also measuring magazine length are the two factors to consider.

  • you should make a cleaning video of the ar308 or ar15, mostly because you would do a great job on it and give good information how to do it (i know how,its just an advice)

  • @C4Philip206 Thanks for the great idea!

  • It's nice to see a clean workspace.

  • 8208XBR.......... Best rifle powder ever, imo.

  • Are you doing your bullet seating operation by checking when the rifling meets the bullet or by that Manufacturer's recomomend OAL of your .308

  • how does the Hornady concentricity gauge zero for the caliber your checking?

  • what die sets would you use for precision reloading rifle dies out of Hornady and Redding?

  • But how do you know haw far you need set the bullet away from the lands, how do you measure this, and how do you figure out the OAL so that you can set up your seating die?
