Test shots from a super 16 modified K3.

Developed at Alpha Cine and scanned at Cinelicious.
Scan method: Diamond Clear HD Uprez.

Films used:
Kodak Vision2 100T
Kodak Vision2 50D
Kodak Vision3 250D

Lenses used:
Stock Meteor 17-69mm f/1.9
Vivitar 35mm f/2.8
SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4

This was my first time doing anything with motion picture film. I'm very happy with how it turned out. Please excuse my poor technique! It was a good learning experience. My little sister (the one in the film) did all the editing. Viewing the raw shots is pretty boring so she made it more interesting.

Music by Andrew Peterson.

  • Hi. Yes, I bought mine from ebay, from a guy in Moscow. I paid around 350 USD for it. Yes, its got threaded lense. I have another Krasnogorsk with bajonet. So your got fixed lense?

  • @superadio1 Mine has the threaded m42 mount. I used several different lenses.

  • Finaly I have received my K3 from Moscow. But how exactly does the lightmeter works? I see no needle in wievfinder.

  • @superadio1 You'll probably need a battery adapter and some new batteries. I never used the built-in light meter. I'd recommend a separate meter. I used my DSLR to get an idea of the exposure.

  • Can 16mm be scanned to 1080p or 2K?

  • @projektmetaphor Yes. I only had it scanned at 720p, but it's no problem to have it scanned at higher resolutions and get even more detail out of it.

  • Is is really hard to get depth of field on 16mm? What if I use a f/1.2 lens or something like that?

  • hey man! Why do you use 3 different film stocks!

  • @superadio1 They still sell these things brand new? How much did it cost you to get it? Is it the model with the interchangeable lens?

  • @superadio1 Thanks. Eventually I want to try S8 too. I think you can get the light meter working with the right batteries, but the K3 has no auto exposure like many S8 cameras have. I happend to have a light meter and a DSLR to check my exposure before each shot. Even with those aids I was off, but the film has enough latitude to make up for most mistakes.
