Great job. Never stop rocking the timpani!
-
how the hell is in 2nd place. what was first place, a 16 stoke roll
-
man, there mustn't have been any decent timpani players in the state at that time then. Seriously though, your mallet control frankly was mediocre at best. I'm sure you've improved since then though.

TIMPANI
tImpani
NOT TIMPANI
you seem like a nice enough person but when someone misspells a word multiple times i get mad
-
Out of respect for Mr. Beck though. He didn't ask for swung rhythms so i would imagine thats not how he intended it to be performed. It's not a cadenza that allows you to put you own interpretation, it's clearly notated solo.
-
There's no real direction as to whether it should be swung or not, it's down to your own interptretation.
-
Ever heard of shifting? or Mallet rebound?
Or not swinging rhythms when they aren't supposed to be swung?
-
I understand he would have been 1st but he lost the swimsuit competition.
You forgot to add that Geoff is the 2nd best timpanist in WA state! You should fix that.

Um...
Here's the desription I had on the video [unedited]: Sonata for Tympani by John Beck. Performed by Geoffrey Smith, who is now officially the 2nd best tympanist in Washington State, 2007.
