I should have mentioned that with some cornmeal, you can even dance in sneakers. Tap shoes the preferred shoe for buckdancers, who prefer the ease of creating sound with minimal effort. Leather soles should be THICK and wide. I didn't show examples of leather soled boots, but the lace ups are better to keep heel in contact with foot. You don't want shoes that let your feet move around. Some folks are lucky enough to find synthetic lace-up shoes with hard (not sticky) rubber.
