Classic. Written by Stan Jones (who later wrote the title song for the Western Series Cheyenne) who sold it to Gene Autry. This picture was to be named "Beyond The Purple Hills" before Gene bought the song. They then changed the name of the 1949 movie to "Riders In The Sky." Stan appears in the movie twice with Gene. Vaughn Monroe had a number 1 hit for 22 weeks with it. Later it seems everyone recorded it.
