Video produced by AWARE volunteer Kyle Martens
Project AWARE, which stands for A Watershed Awareness River Expedition, is coordinated by the Iowa DNR and involves hundreds of people who take vacation to spend anywhere from a day to an entire week exploring Iowa's rivers and picking up trash. On July 10-17, 2010, 223 people participated in the 8th Annual Project AWARE, traversing more than 100 miles of the West and East Nishnabotna rivers, and removing more than nine tons of trash along the way.
