The Holland--Dozier--Holland penned "Surfer Boy" from the 1965 film, "Beach Ball." It's got that groovin' Motown sound! This scene is filmed at the Long Beach custom-car show in California. Lots of cool custom cars including the Silhouette. "Beach Ball" feels like the companion film to, "The Girls on the Beach."

I love this. Crystal-clear film quality, the girls are at the top of their game, and they all look beautiful, especially Diana Ross.

Miss Ross vocals skills are greatly underated and aunderappreciated. That woman can emote, feelings unlike any other. The way she sings "Ridin high,oh so high" You can hear the sense of ergency in her voice.

If Flo was alive today, she would find some black guys and even some black girls surfing. May she rest in peace and thank you for sharing. The song is not demeaning these days. Love this song.

This song is so silly. In the beginning the people on the dance floor have this WTF look on their faces.

Flo thought this song was demeaning. She said "I never seen a Black guy surf."

The movie Beach Ball sure is goofy but has some great bands in it. I love the Supremes two songs they do in the movie, the title song Beach Ball and Surfer Boy.And the hairstyle Diana Ross is sporting is such a great lacquered anti-gravity flick.. So soft & natural! Love it. The movie is full of great teased and lacquered hairstyles. So perfect for the beach...

That wig is as wide as Texas and taller than the Empire State Building. It has got to be the largest wig she ever wore.

The wig Diana is wearing reminds me of the wig Velma van Tussle wore (with a bomb in it) at the Baltimore Car Show in the original "Hairspray".

Diane looks like Little Richard's sister with her bouffant wig and thick make-up!!! Now I know where Latrice Royale from RuPaul's Drag Race gets her look!!! She's every drag queens fantasy!!!

One of those greatest hits you've never heard. Really charming tune. I like Mary and Flo's "look at the way he rides he rides" which sweetly compliments Diana's lead. As with most of the great R&B acts of the era, The Supremes made a lot of records that could have been hits that were overshadowed by their better known tunes.
