If I ever left Windows I'd miss Winamp the most, just an awesome media player. iTunes isn't bad, however less codec support. Mac users have to divert to VLC player in order to play certain codecs that iTunes isn't able to yet. I wish it wasn't like that, iTunes can be both a good media store and media player if it allow more codecs and plugins.

  • Hey, if you were ever to switch to Linux, you could try Audacious. It's just like Winamp (and supports pretty much all the same codecs).

  • @gnulinuxman I use Linux off and on, but Winamp is something I've just grown to love and use for some time now. I'm not totally sold on using Linux, it's perfect for servers, but it has a long road to go for being a desktop replacement. You need some professionally made apps and paid apps for Linux to make it worth while for people to use and develop programs. It doesn't mean no free apps on Linux at all, even Windows has just loads of free apps out there.

  • thanks contour I'll probably do a short video on converting to other audio formats and what program I use for it in a later video.

  • Flac rocks. Good that you did a video on it. Pretty much everything other than itunes seem to support flac.

  • Hey svtcontour, your welcome to share what you use for your audio compression or converting.

  • Just downloaded the winamp for mac. Used it for a few days now.

On my mac the music plays but you can't see it in the actual list.

I used it on windows for many years and and I preferred it over the iTunes.

    THE FUCKING WINAMP FOR MAC LOOKS E X A C T L Y THE SAME AS ITUNES.

What's the fucking point of making the winamp available for mac if it looks EXACTLY the same as iTunes ?

    It annoys me to bits.

I loved the Big bento interface.

WHAT THE FUCK IS IN THEIR HEADS?

  • I use the same method svtcontour used. Rip as .wav with EAC, and then convert to FLAC. You can make EAC run the encoder directly after ripping as well, so that's pretty handy. It takes a little bit longer to set up than WinAMP, and takes much longer to rip, but I'd definitely say it's worth it.

  • Actually I used to use Exact Audio Copy (EAC) to rip to WAV and then use FLAC Drop to conver to FLAC but now my entire library is strictly store as WAV because most of the time I dont listen on the computer so I dont mind not having tagging. I've got about 400 CDs that I've ripped. Its all CDs that I've purchased from the store and amazon.
