  • She spoke about this on CBC. She explained that she listened to Neil Young's "The Man needs a Maid" and was perplexed as to why Neil would write something which kind of, clashed with how most people see Neil Young.

Then, she went on a tour, and found that she could relate, how tired and drained, and just wishing someone would take care of her. I think her song kind of expanded as she went with that, like how sometimes people marry as a means of "settling for someone".

  • the voice is so fucking perfect

  • @phddddd Maybe you have a small niche of people. People don't always marry their true love; sometimes they marry someone after they realize the one they truly love is long gone and now unattainable. They marry the person they're with, and love, but not in the same sense that they had before with that missing one.

  • 1:25 IS THAT LENARD NIMOY IN THE BACKGROUND?!

  • I need to stop procrastinating on buying her album :)

  • whenever you expect her to miss a high note, whereas most modern day musicians would completely miss the note, she absolutely nails it. it sends chills down my spine.

  • She is referring to the fags that go by that "rule"

  • i love you

  • Do you understand it? You won't catch me understanding it!

  • to say that people marry for salvation shows a lack of understanding, mentioning the "human predicament" demonstrates that this lack of understanding is thorough. There is NO such thing as the 'human predicament'. And why should there be? A = A. Our societal predicament is that we have accepted an anit-life anti-morality, as morality only exists if there is choice, and if we start off as innately faulted we have no choice. Accepting that man is faulted = accepting the axiom that A ≠ A. Silly

  • I know of NO ONE that married to settle for someone, and, to say something like that, demonstrates a thorough lack of the understanding of the human pedicament. It is not settlement but salvation people crave with marriage. That half end in divorce speaks about misjudgment not settlement.
