Many of his predictions about the future have come true today and most of warning and ideas were ignored.

We did it to ourselves. Every time gas dropped, we ran out and bought big SUV's and trucks. The way this country sucks down resources is appalling. We have become a debtor nation of consumers on the brink of irrelevancy in the world.

We didn't listen then, we aren't listening now..

Wow! God bless him! he spoke of real challenges and what was waiting 30 years ago and what did US do? They didnt handle the truth, voted against him and for something that made so much problem for todays USA! almost 12 trillion in debt! stretched military! 50 million under poverty line! 10% unemployment! Dollar in freefall! dependent on foreign oil (70%) and a Empire in decline! Will US do same mistake in 2012?

I wondered at the time what kind of message this idiot was sending to the Soviet Union. It was played out in spades when they invaded Afghanistan. The moron made us look weak. There are ways of setting a national agenda, and calling Americans spoiled and selfish....and depressed...was not the way to do it. This speech sealed his fate 16 months later.

And now Obama has called America "soft". Welcome back, Carter.

He was warning us then and its coming true now.People forgot about the great depression and FDR bringing us out of it by taxing the rich 90%. Yes 90% tax. That's where all those roads highways and state parks came FROM. GOVERNMENT JOBS PAID FOR BY THE RICH MANS TAX DOLLARS.And the rich did just fine because everyone had a job to earn money and buy things with. Most homes only had one parent working. The mom got to stay home. Dads retired at 60 with full pensions.WE ARE ALL READY SCREWED!
