Childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions in the African American community. Overweight Black children can suffer from some very adult diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. Lack of exercise, inaccessability to fresh foods, and cultural beliefs all contribute to obesity in children. On the next Another View find out what is being done in Hampton Roads to combat this epidemic, including how the faith community is getting involved. Join guest host Lisa Godley, along with Seneca Bock, Reverend Dr. Dwight Nixon, Berline Brown, and Dr. Shawne Bryant as they discuss childhood obesity, Thursday, October 15 at 9P on WHRO-TV, digital 15.1.

  • @houstonboi1600 what you see is not necessarily what is real especially on a national level... we have to place our local view into a national and international context for Black/African people!

  • All children suffer,i see more white and hispanic kids that are obese than blacks...
