High Speed Video of beaded chain being dropped.

I made this one because of some curious features I noticed in a computer simulation of the same thing. Namely, the free end of the chain falls "flat" most of the time. And near the fixed end of the chain the chain appears to stop for some time.

  • very cool, the horizontal portion of the chain is just what I should have expected (but were too dumb to, thanks)

  • Yea, it makes sense when you see it. But it's not what you would have expected.

  • Thanks for sharing it. A good example to show the interest of a high speed videocamera in physics!
