I performed this piece for Sarah's 30th birthday party. It's not the smoothest, but I think I did well for only having a week to choreograph it, learn it, practice it, refine it, and perform it in the 90 degree, high humidity Texas summer heat. I went a bit quicker than the music, so at the end, I had an 'oh crap' moment of..stay in the silk and figure out something to do! So I did a short pose, which threw my descent off -- that's why I have 'ugly foot' when I'm coming off the silk. Not bad for recently getting back on the silks (6 weeks ago) after a year off, and for not performing in over a year! Oh yeah, and next time I'll use a darker sheet...the white sheet seemed a bit distracting.
parisianshopgirl, I took about 1.5 years of lessons, but then took some time off and got back into it last summer before I put together this performance. Lessons definitely help. Then once you get the basics and some key moves, you can start to choreograph things for yourself. So much fun!!
kyttn, we should! When I'm working, my schedule is pretty crazy, but when I'm not, I'm up for anything! catch me on fb! :)
