AsianAmericanAlien what exactly are you basing these statements on? i know the part about them giving you dead "virus" (actually from what i have read its my understanding its a bacteria) is correct but what are you basing the rest of your statement on? do you have a source ?
He must have been talking about Guillain Barre Syndrome, in my knowledge this is not a known side effect of the skin test, more so, it affects whole of the body, not just the hands
Just wondering because a couple days after I got the Mantoux test, I lost use of both of my hands. Also both hands developed a rash and began to swell. The doctor advised me that I had Ge-yan (sp?) Barre Syndrome which might of been caused by the injection.
The TB Test requires .1ml PPD applied Epidermally and must be read at 48-hours. We measure induration, not erythema. Induration of 10 mm is highly positive even for patients that have received the bcg. HIV patients have a positive PPD if induration is 5 mm or >. Induration may last a few days & may itch.
