In his wartime memoir "Quartered Safe Out Here", George MacDonald Fraser (creator of the Flashman novels) recalls a 1945 conversation of his section in Burma "of Madame DuBarry's imagined charms being compared (unfavourably) to those of Susanna Foster, the film star."

Did she sing you Lullabys? she seemed a lovely sweet lady...you must have many happy memories, sometimes sad times makes us better people. My mother had a tough time too, it made her a better, more patient, person, she lived till she was 87. Live for her now....god bless. Peter

A voice for the ages...I will always remember the sound of her voice and have seen all of her films. My fascination with her began when I was still a child and I have heard her songs echoing in my memory ever since. My deepest condolences on your loss. Rest in peace, dear, glorious Susanna.

I'm so very sorry for your loss I saw the documetal a phantom unmasked and the more I see her face I the more I think its true what they said about her, that she was completely honest with everything she did, she's one of those persons you wish could live forever so that you could have a chance to meet her...

What a great actress! I'd wish she'd stayed on in the biz for a while longer, to prevent a great number of her many hardships, most of which SHE definitely did not deserve. She had great potential!
