It`s the world-wide famous march during World War I, created by Vassliy Ivanovich Agapkin in 1912-13. Agapkin was a trumpeter in 7th Reserve Cavalry Regiment. The march was inspired by the First Balkan War. In Red Army was not popular until 40s. It was VERY popular in the White Army durung Civil War in Russia (1918-1922).
The march was played for the first time for public at 7th Reserve Cavalry Regiment parade in Tambov City in 1912. That`s why it is the anthem of Tambov oblast.)
