  • This was back when umpires knew what they were doing.

  • @Christianrockrockz yes, back when music was music, water tasted like cherry pie, all the girls were pretty, and dollar bills grew on trees.

really, quit oversimplifying hte past. there were plenty of bad umpires, bad spectators and the players still tried to find ny way to cheat. people were still people, even in the 60s. that is to say, they were imperfect.

  • The 1967 World Series was another great Series that the Red Sox lost

  • @FRSFreeState hey, with bob gibson on the mound in game 7, the red sox would have to play some great ball. and the boston ace, longborg decided to run out of steam right then

  • The best hitting pitcher would have been Babe Ruth.

  • Gibson's ERA 1.12 unequalled. This was the year of Yaz, the year before it was Robby at .316 49 122, McClain 31-6 after that the league and the commish had had it the imbalance was evident. They lowered the boom,I mean the mound.

  • @avalsonline2 I was at game 1 a tough loss for the Red Sox with Santiago hitting a home run for the Sox only run. Lonborg pitched game 2 and 1 hit St. Louis and the Sox won that game 5-0. Yaz and Lonborg carried the Sox in '67.Yaz had his best season, winning the American League Triple Crown .326 BA, 44 HR (tied with Harmon Killebrew) and 121 RBI's.Yaz was voted AL-MVP

Lonborg was never the same pitcher after that because he tore up his knee skiing in the off season.Bob Gibson was phenomenal.

  • pretty much my introduction to mlb. my uncle loved the cards, it was the best world series i ever watched.

  • This World Series is when i became a fan of the Boston Red Sox.

  • The year of Yaz.

  • @jackhitts08 Harry Caray of course. He was the Cardinals announcer back then.
