This Two Handed Alphabet is common to BSL, NZSL and Auslan (British, New Zealand and Australian Sign).
The K used to be more formal, but many signers are now signing it in a more comfortable orientation

Brilliant! Thanks. Pity this doesn't come up until the ninth page on the list when you search for NZSL here. Seems like Youtube would be a perfect place to put some instructional and learning resources for NZSL, I'll check out your other videos too.

I should have known NZSL would be closer to BSL than ASL. I really wish this line of signed languages had a one-handed alphabet. The two-handed nature of this manual alphabet has hampered my acquisition of BSL (as I'm sure it will with NZSL) because I'm never sure if it's a new sign I'm learning or just a letter! Does anyone know why the two-handed alphabet has persisted? I would love to know.
