Now with left hand voicings.

The voicings used are called "Shell" or "Bud Powell" voicings. They consist of either the root-third or root-seventh of the chord.

I choose which variation to used based on the minimal amount of movement required to get to the next voicings. Sometimes you will have to break this rule when a voicing is too low on the keyboard and begins to sound muddy. The same is true when a voicing gets too high and begins to lose it's natural resonance.

An alternate version of the root-third voicing is the root-tenth voicing. This is achieved by dropping the lowest note of the voicing down an octave.

  • Charlie Parker's OMNIBOOK.pdf

  • When you say you transcribed it does that mean you have sheet music for it?

  • @PianistaItaliano or you could get the omnibook :)

  • @naturalsmind Apart from the perfect transcription of TJ, he also played in a very precise and confident. Anyway there is a way to save a lot of work, is: Celemony Melodyne editor. It is a software that can analyze every single note played (in time) from a single wave audio format. After analyzing the audio, you can convert the result in midi file format (in time ), not always the value of the notes is accurate, however, if you already have most of the notation, you save a good amount of time.

  • Thanks for the transcription TJ, what a great accurate work

  • Great Job!

  • Wow! +Respect+
