@zoe2020 I believe it is safe to say that Lena had more propblems with being black than she did with being a woman. White women were the stars of Holywood. They had many roles. Black women had none. The operative word is Black. Racial discrimination was prevalent then and it still is now. They denied racial prejudice then as they do now.
-
@zoe2020 I see the clarification. I do agree that both racisim and sexism is a huge problem then and today. It is worse for black women simply because black women fit into both categories; but in the words of Maya Angelou--"...and still I rise."

@dnworks Word!! (in ur reply to MCalixte89)
I am not black but I can still see the racism that black people endure. It is definitely still there. I am latina and even my community still experiences racism. It is disheartening to a young black person when they continually get pulled over by cops for no reason. Happens a lot in my community too.

I wonder why she stop doing interviews?
-
She felt she wasn't taking seriously in hollywood and was only seen as just as a beauty!
-
She hated that MGM would put her in leading roles and would only put her in movies as a singer, but would rather her play characters that was loose and whores. She wouldn't do it and MGM would suspend her for months.

@MCalixte89 First, please keep it civil! Second, the whole reaction to Pres. Obama is the most clear evidence that racism is alive and well. We went through eight years of the worst president ever that violated civil liberties, dragged us into immoral, illegal wars, and crashed the nation's economy. And yet, there is large population that thinks Obama is a sign of the apocalypse ... simple, pure racism!
