I asked my uncle, he had a similar amputation but he only had the pointer finger. He went ahead and got the amputation right above the wrist which stopped all of the problems associated with having the wrist after the accident. His nerves were destroyed right when the machine was lifted off of the hand. If you want to keep the thumb it would be alright, but you would be better off having a complete hand amputation. I know that's hard to grab, but that would help kill most of the pain and strengt

My whole hand is off above the wrist. I use a full harness for suspension and control and it works well for me. If you go with a closed socket you'll lose the wrist function. Does moving the wrist give you alot more ability? If so I'd keep the hinge. If not, go with a closed system and there will be no stress on your wrist at all and probably a more stable platform for your hook to work off.

@theguywiththehook It seems the use of my wrist to open and close the hook is starting to wear out my wrist. It seems the best thing would be to go to a harness much like what you have in your videos, and lock the wrist hinge to limit the movement of my wrist.
